An AGM where the remote vote had to be defensible
An industry association ran its AGM with 640 in the room and 1,100 remote, including formal resolutions. Voting had to produce a record the association's auditors would accept.
The challenge
What was actually wrong
A resolution carried on a disputed count is an outcome nobody can undo. Every vote had to be tied to a verified member, each member had to be able to vote exactly once from either the room or remotely, and the record had to survive audit.
Approach
How we sized it
We treated this as an identity problem rather than a voting-platform problem. Eligibility was resolved at registration against the membership record, and the credential — badge QR in the room, verified link remotely — was the same token in both cases. That is what made one member, one vote enforceable across two channels.
Deployment
What went on the floor
In-room voting from badge QR at handset stations, remote voting from a verified link, both writing to one tallied record with a timestamped audit trail. Results were displayed only after the chair closed each vote. The full reconciliation was handed to the association's auditors the same evening.
