Case study

A townhall for 11,000 staff across nine offices

A corporate group ran its annual townhall to nine offices and a remote audience. One contribution feed, nine local receptions, and captions in three languages.

An open road case holding a video switcher and encoder, coiled cables and a small confidence monitor showing the stage.

The challenge

What was actually wrong

Nine offices on corporate networks with varying quality, a leadership team that would not accept a visible delay between sites, and a workforce spread across three primary languages. The previous year had used a video conferencing platform and lost two offices for twenty minutes.

Approach

How we sized it

We separated contribution from distribution rather than treating the whole thing as a conference call. One professionally produced feed left the main venue; each office received it as a stream and played it locally, which means an office's network problem is that office's problem rather than everyone's.

Deployment

What went on the floor

Multi-camera production at the main site with bonded contribution, distributed to nine offices with a local playback appliance at each. Live captions in three languages generated on venue hardware. The recording was published internally within four hours with the same captions burned in.
